Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park, color and material charter
a3dc has been entrusted with the task of managing the use of colour and materials in all new and traditional construction projects in the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse Regional Nature Park, and has produced a colour and materials charter and advisory color charts for each architectural type.
In a sensitive area such as the Parc Naturel Régional de la Haute-Vallée de Chevreuse, this natural conservatory, a historical witness to the gentle interaction between the land and human activity, must, given its proximity to the expansion of Greater Paris, manage the pressure of property development and the integration of new and numerous architectural styles into a landscape that is ultimately fragile.
Just 30 kilometres from Paris, the Haute Vallée de Chevreuse has preserved its unspoilt landscapes and exceptional architectural heritage. The highly diverse buildings include modest rural houses and large farms, as well as many 19th and 20th century middle-class houses, while the housing estates reflect the growing urbanisation of the area. The market towns of Chevreuse and Rochefort-en-Yvelines are remarkable for the state of conservation of their historic fabric. It is for this reason that the challenges of a charter of colors and materials seem essential and indispensable for the coherence of the landscape and the enhancement of a sensitive regional heritage.
